Your First Production Session
Your first production session is all about understanding your musical goals. During this session, your producer will discuss your ideas, identify the direction of your project, and create a plan for bringing your song to life.
Finding the Right Creative Partnership
Every producer has a unique creative approach. Since your All-Access membership includes unlimited sessions, we encourage you to start with a producer whose style best matches your project. If, after your first session, you feel another producer may be a better creative fit, you're always welcome to book sessions with someone else. Finding the right creative partnership is an important part of the process.
Every Producer Works Differently
There is no single "correct" way to produce music.
Some producers may use MIDI to sketch ideas such as harmony, arrangements, grooves, or instrument parts before they're recorded by real musicians. Others may rarely use MIDI at all and prefer a completely different workflow.
Likewise, some producers may prepare charts, lead sheets, production notes, or other reference materials for the musicians, while others coordinate the recording process using different methods.
These are simply creative tools used behind the scenes when appropriate. They are not the final product, and their use depends entirely on each producer's workflow and the needs of your project.
If your goal is to record with real musicians, your producer will help prepare the project so our musicians can deliver the best possible performance.
Recording Your Song
Once you're happy with your production plan, your producer can help identify which musicians should record your project and in what order. Because Sessions Boutique is an online recording platform, recordings are typically completed one musician at a time. Your producer prepares the project so every musician has the information they need to perform their part accurately.
Although producers do not normally participate live during each recording session, they may coordinate internally with our musicians whenever necessary to help ensure everyone is working toward the same creative vision.
Booking Production Sessions
Production sessions are booked the same way as musician recording sessions. Each producer works during scheduled sessions only. If you miss a booked session or choose not to attend, the producer will only work during the reserved session time.
Our messaging system is intended for project communication, scheduling questions, and clarifications. It is not intended to replace booked production sessions or be used for creative work outside scheduled session time.
If a technical issue prevents a Live Session Room from functioning properly, the messaging system may be used as an alternative method of communication during that scheduled session.
Mixing & Mastering
Mixing and Mastering are also included with your All-Access membership.
Each Mixing & Mastering session covers one song of up to 7 minutes in length. Whether you book the Basic Mix or the Full Mix (Premium Add-On), each session applies to a single song. A single song must represent one continuous musical composition and production project. A song may contain multiple sections, movements, or musical changes when they are part of the same overall composition and production. Combining multiple distinct songs, compositions, or separately developed musical works into a single audio file does not qualify as one song, even if presented as a continuous track or connected by transitions.
Unlike recording and production sessions, Mixing & Mastering is not performed entirely live.
Your first session with the mixing engineer is conducted live to discuss your creative vision, reference tracks, expectations, and any technical details for your project. After this briefing, the engineer completes the mixing and/or mastering work offline and delivers the finished version through the platform.
If revisions are needed, additional booked sessions may be used to review the mix, discuss changes, and continue refining the project until it reaches the agreed direction.
Following the briefing session, the delivery timeline for the completed mix and/or master will vary depending on the complexity and specific requirements of the project. As a general reference, delivery may take approximately 2 to 7 business days after the initial session, though this timeframe is not guaranteed and may be shorter or longer depending on the scope of work. Sessions Boutique will make reasonable efforts to communicate estimated timelines through the platform.
What's Included in Mixing with Your All-Access Membership?
The Mixing & Mastering service included with your All-Access membership is designed for standard music production projects — typically songs with a reasonable number of tracks, clean and well-organized source files, and no significant technical issues with the recorded material.
To help you understand exactly what to expect, here's what is included:
Basic Mix
A Basic Mix is designed for projects with up to 16 audio tracks, where the recorded tracks are already edited, organized, and production-ready.
Your Basic Mix includes:
One live session with a mixing engineer to review your project, discuss your creative direction, and brief the engineer on how you want the song to sound.
Professional volume balancing and level control.
Panning and stereo placement.
EQ and compression as appropriate for each track.
Reverb, delay, and other spatial effects where appropriate.
Overall processing to create a balanced, cohesive, and professional-sounding mix.
Mix delivery through your project page after the engineer completes the mix offline.
The live session is used to brief the engineer and set direction. The actual mixing is completed offline and delivered to your project page. Additional revision rounds can be booked as new sessions.
What about mix revisions?
The Basic Mix includes the initial mix based on the direction established during your live session.
If you would like to make changes after receiving the mix — for example, changing the vocal level, adjusting an instrument, modifying effects, or making other mix decisions — you can book another session with the same engineer. During that session, you can review the mix together, communicate the changes you want, and the engineer will update the mix accordingly.
The process can then be repeated as needed through additional sessions.
Full Mix
Everything in the Basic Mix, plus additional preparation and editing work when required. Supports up to 48 audio tracks. Projects exceeding 16 tracks, or requiring more editing and preparation than a Basic Mix covers, may need this option.
Also includes:
Track cleanup and preparation.
Basic audio editing needed to make tracks mix-ready.
Timing and alignment adjustments when appropriate.
Comping or arranging recorded takes when applicable.
Cleanup of unwanted noise, gaps, clicks, or other minor recording issues when reasonably manageable.
Additional production-oriented editing required to prepare the tracks for mixing.
The engineer will determine the appropriate level of editing based on the condition and complexity of the source material.
Important: The Full Mix includes the additional editing and preparation reasonably required to complete the mix, as well as up to two revision rounds after the initial mix is delivered. Each revision round allows you to provide feedback and request changes to the mix, which will then be addressed by the engineer.
Additional revision rounds beyond the two included with the Full Mix require the purchase of an additional Full Mix service.
Mastering Included
Both the Basic Mix and the Full Mix include mastering. You'll receive both the unmastered mix and a professionally mastered version. This gives you the flexibility to use the mastered version directly, or have the mix mastered separately later if you prefer.
Is Vocal Tuning Included?
Pitch correction and vocal tuning are not included in the Basic Mix or the Full Mix. For detailed manual vocal editing and note-by-note pitch tuning, the Vocal Editing & Tuning add-on is available as a separate purchase.
Vocal Editing & Tuning
Professional note-by-note vocal tuning and detailed editing for all lead and backing vocal tracks in your mix.
Manual note-by-note pitch correction for lead and backing vocals.
Timing and alignment adjustments for all vocal tracks.
Breath, noise, and gap cleanup between phrases.
Consonant and sibilance treatment.
Vocal comping from multiple takes when applicable.
Covers up to 5 final vocal tracks per song (lead + backing). Available as a standalone add-on or combined with the Full Mix. Priced per song.

What Should I Provide Before My Mixing Session?
For the best results, your project should be properly organized and ready for the engineer to work with.
We recommend providing:
Clean, consolidated audio files.
Clearly labeled tracks.
Your final arrangement and song structure.
Correct BPM, sample rate, and Bit depth.
Any important production notes.
A style reference track when appropriate.
Your creative direction and any specific mix preferences.
The more organized and production-ready your source files are, the more time the engineer can spend on the actual sound of your mix.
Need More Than a Standard Mix?
The Full Mix is designed to handle projects that need more than just mixing — including track preparation, cleanup, and additional preparation work.
If your project needs additional production work, arrangement help, or other creative services before mixing, our producers are available through the platform. For any vocal work beyond the Full Mix scope, the Vocal Editing & Tuning add-on is available as a separate purchase.
Included as a Bonus Feature
Mixing & Mastering is included as a bonus feature with the All-Access membership — it is not a core component of the subscription. It is subject to revision limits as communicated through the platform, and Sessions Boutique reserves the right to modify, limit, or discontinue this feature at any time without entitling users to a refund or compensation. Users who need guaranteed, unlimited, or professional-grade mixing and mastering should consider our separately available paid add-on option.
Complex Projects & Custom Quotes
Projects that involve audio restoration, noise removal, pitch or time correction of pre-existing recordings, an unusually high number of channels or stems, severe technical damage to source files, or other non-standard requirements may exceed the scope of what is included in the subscription. In such cases, Sessions Boutique reserves the right to determine that the project requires a separate custom quote, which may be offered as a paid add-on. You will be notified before any additional charges apply.
