Biography

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Marcos Feijão is a Brazilian drummer and percussionist recognized for his refined listening, rhythmic precision, and deep musical understanding—placing his extensive experience at the service of studio recordings and collaborative remote sessions. His musical journey began early alongside his father, Miltinho, as part of the iconic group MPB4, through which Marcos had the opportunity, over several decades, to share stages and recording studios with some of the greatest names in Brazilian music. Among them are Chico Buarque, João Bosco, Guinga, Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, Francis Hime, Ivan Lins, Zeca Pagodinho, Alceu Valença, Toquinho, Paulinho da Viola, and Dori Caymmi. With the Jobim–Morelenbaum Quartet, Marcos toured and performed extensively throughout Brazil, Europe, and Asia, sharing national and international stages with artists such as João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, Nana Caymmi, Gal Costa, and Japanese pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, in projects dedicated to the repertoire of Tom Jobim. Alongside musicians Paulo Jobim and Daniel Jobim—son and grandson of the legendary composer—Marcos recorded and toured Japan with singer Lisa Ono during the release of the album Bossa Carioca. In the late 1990s, he also joined the band of pop artist Vinny, recording albums—including the hit "Heloísa Mexe a Cadeira"—and touring Brazil and Japan while appearing on major television programs. Marcos was also a member of Monobloco, one of the most influential groups in contemporary Brazilian percussion and Rio Carnival culture, with whom he recorded albums and DVDs and toured across Brazil, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, Marcos has built a solid presence in professional studio environments. His work is defined by an ability to truly serve the music, contributing sensitively to groove, dynamics, and musical identity, while maintaining close collaboration with producers, sound engineers, and artists. As a session drummer, he moves naturally between MPB, bossa nova, jazz, pop, rock, and Brazilian percussive languages, adapting his approach to each arrangement, artistic intention, and musical context. In remote sessions, Marcos offers attentive listening, clear communication, and consistent musical delivery—integrating seamlessly into modern production workflows.
