Tony Cantisano

Biography

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Tony Cantisano is a versatile guitarist, musical director, and arranger whose career spans more than thirty years across Brazil, Europe, and North America. His musical identity blends the power of 70s and 80s rock with the refined harmonic language of Antônio Carlos Jobim, forming a distinctive sound that bridges popular and sophisticated musical worlds. Tony began his professional journey at age fourteen and later studied at MUSIARTE, earning a Bachelor of Music from Estácio de Sá University. Since 1998, he has established himself as a highly in-demand session musician, sideman, and musical director, collaborating with over 300 artists across genres. His international credits include working with Neil Lockwood (Alan Parsons Project, ELO), Peter Howarth (The Hollies), The Original Drifters, and Broadway icons Clint Holmes and Lorna Luft. In 2022, Tony completed a prestigious seven-month international tour with the Broadway production Jersey Boys. Alongside his work as a sideman, Tony launched his solo career in 2015, releasing a series of expressive albums and EPs, and contributing creatively to the projects River Circus and ODO21. He is also the founder of TNCT Sonora Studio, a rehearsal and recording space in Rio de Janeiro, where he continues to produce, arrange, and mentor emerging artists while maintaining an active international career.
