Biography

Gustavo Salgado is a Brazilian pianist, keyboardist, arranger, and music producer with a distinguished career spanning musical theater, television, film scoring, and major Brazilian music festivals. A graduate in Piano from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), Gustavo has built a versatile trajectory that moves naturally between live performance, studio recording, and large-scale audiovisual productions. In musical theater, he has worked as a musician, conductor, and arranger on major productions, including Elis, A Musical and SAMBRA: 100 Years of Samba. He has also participated in Brazilian productions of major Broadway musicals staged in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, such as The Wizard of Oz and Kiss Me, Kate. As a sideman and collaborator, Gustavo regularly performs with some of Brazil's most respected artists, including Maria Rita, Seu Jorge, and Tiago Abravanel, contributing to concerts, recordings, and special projects. In the audiovisual field, he composes music for high-profile productions distributed by TV Globo, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Disney+. His credits include soundtracks for productions such as Minha Vida em Marte, Os Farofeiros 2, No Gogó do Paulinho, Santíssima Trindade, Tudo Bem no Natal que Vem, Senna, and Perdida. Since 2021, Gustavo has served as pianist, keyboardist, and musical director for the house band Lúcio Mauro & Filhos on the television program Caldeirão com Mion, broadcast nationally on TV Globo. On the show's stage, he has accompanied many of Brazil's leading artists and has also contributed as an arranger for major television projects such as Criança Esperança and the Globo 60 Years celebration. Gustavo has also contributed as a composer and arranger for major music festivals, including Rock in Rio and The Town, writing the opening music for the 2024 and 2025 editions of these festivals. During the events, he also performed alongside featured artists on the Sunset Stage as part of the traditional closing show Segue o Baile. Recognized for his musical sensitivity, versatility, and technical excellence, Gustavo Salgado continues to be a sought-after collaborator across Brazil's live, recording, and audiovisual music scenes.
